The ModGate Plus is an easy to use Gateway between Modbus/TCP on Ethernet or WLAN, Modbus/RTU and Modbus/ASCII. ModGate Plus 813 connects eight Modbus serial lines to a network running TCP/IP. It can also connect Modbus/RTU and Modbus/ASCII busses.
Hardware Characteristics
With its metal case, a wide temperature range and a flexible DC power supply, the ModGate Plus classifies as an industrial-strength device. The product line is based on a state-of-the-art RISC processor, providing a cost-effective design and low power consumption. The serial ports can be configured to physically use RS232, RS422 or RS485, allowing the utilisation of multiple Modbus Slaves on a single serial line.
Operational Benefits
The ModGate Plus devices offer a remarkable degree of independence for Modbus operations, transcending constraints of distance and operating systems. They boast accessibility and control through Internet and VPN connections.
Network messages are seamlessly transmitted to the destination serial line, with replies from the serial port reciprocating across the network. Notably, a ModGate Plus device adapts effortlessly, whether interfacing with a Modbus Master on a serial port or within the TCP/IP network.
Innovatively, Modbus Master Multiplexing serves as an extension to the standard, enabling multiple Masters to connect to ModGate Plus via Modbus/TCP. Meanwhile, slaves on serial lines adeptly respond to requests from various Masters.
The configuration of ModGate Plus is a user-friendly experience facilitated through a browser interface. Leveraging modern web technologies, the interface ensures easy navigation through the spectrum of configuration options. Additionally, UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) provides a standardized method for locating the Gateway within the network.
For enhanced connectivity options, ModGate Plus devices can be equipped with an embedded module for WLAN 802.11b/g/n. Moreover, a specialized variant, the ModGate Plus 813, is available as a Power-over-Ethernet (POE) device, compliant with 802.3af (Class 0) standards, allowing for an additional power supply.
