AM5 Platform and DDR5 Memory
The PRIME B840M-K supports AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series desktop processors, with CPU support rated for up to 170 W. Two DIMM slots provide dual-channel DDR5 support for up to 128 GB of memory. Compatible memory can reach speeds of 8000+ MT/s through overclocking, depending on the processor and memory kit. AMD EXPO and ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile (AEMP) help simplify memory tuning.
Fast Storage and Flexible Expansion
Two M.2 slots support NVMe storage. With Ryzen 9000 and 7000 Series processors, both slots support PCIe 4.0 x4. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports provide additional options for traditional drives. AMD RAIDXpert2 supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 with Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series processors.
For graphics and expansion, the board provides a primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot with Ryzen 9000 and 7000 Series processors; operation varies with Ryzen 8000 Series processors. A second PCIe 3.0 x16-size slot operates at x4 through the chipset. SafeSlot Core+ reinforces the primary graphics-card slot for added support.
Network, USB and Display Connectivity
Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet with ASUS LANGuard provides wired networking faster than standard Gigabit Ethernet. The board does not include Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

VRM and chipset heatsinks help manage heat, while multiple fan headers and ASUS Fan Xpert 2+ support system cooling control. Three Addressable RGB Gen 2 headers and Aura Sync enable lighting coordination with compatible components through Armoury Crate.
Simple Setup and ASUS Features
ASUS Q-Design tools include Q-Dashboard, Q-DIMM, Q-LED and Q-Slot to assist with installation and troubleshooting. CrashFree BIOS 3, EZ Flash 3 and UEFI BIOS EZ Mode provide tools for BIOS recovery, updates and configuration. The board also supports ASUS AI Cache Boost, designed to help improve local LLM workloads on Ryzen 9000 systems with fast memory, and ASUS AI Advisor for guidance on motherboard features.
