A 3D printer turns a file on your computer into a real object: a broken part for the house, a phone stand, a toy, a school project model or a prototype of a new product. This category has Creality 3D printers for home and work – from simple models for beginners to fast printers with an enclosed chamber and multi-colour printing – plus accessories: CFS filament systems and a wash and cure station.

How to choose a 3D printer

  • Technology. Most home printers use FDM: a plastic thread (filament) melts in the print head and the object is built layer by layer. It is the most convenient and affordable method for home, school and office. Resin (MSLA) printers are more precise in tiny details, but every print needs washing and curing, and you work with a liquid resin.
  • Build volume. The largest object you can print in one piece. 220 x 220 x 250 mm covers most home projects; 300 x 300 x 300 mm and up suits large models and printing several parts at once, and 400 x 400 x 400 mm takes big one-piece parts.
  • Speed. Printers with CoreXY motion print at 500-700 mm/s, so a job that used to take all night is done in a few hours. The entry-level Ender-3 V3 SE reaches 250 mm/s – slower, but cheaper and simpler.
  • Enclosed chamber. Keeps the temperature stable, lowers noise and keeps hands away from the hot nozzle – important at home with children. It is also needed for engineering materials such as ABS and ASA, which warp when they cool too fast.
  • Multi-colour printing. Combo models come with the CFS system that switches spools automatically. One unit holds four spools; up to four units give up to 16 colours or materials in one print.
  • Auto levelling. Most models in this category level the bed by themselves, so the first layer comes out right without manual adjustment – the biggest help for a beginner.

Filament and accessories

An FDM printer prints with filament – a 1.75 mm plastic thread on a 1 kg spool. PLA is the best start: it prints at a low temperature, hardly warps and has almost no smell. PETG is stronger and slightly flexible, ABS and ASA withstand heat but need an enclosed chamber, and TPU is for flexible parts. Spools in many colours are in 3D printer filament.

FAQ

Which 3D printer is best for beginners?

One with auto levelling and an easy start, such as the Ender-3 V3 SE or the Hi Combo. They are ready to print soon after unboxing, and the Creality Cloud library has ready-made models to download, so you can print without knowing 3D design.

Is a 3D printer suitable for children?

Yes, with adult supervision. Choose a model with an enclosed chamber, such as the K1C or K2 Combo, where the hot nozzle and the heated bed are covered, and print with PLA.

How long does a print take?

It depends on the size of the object, the layer height and the printer's speed. A small keychain takes less than an hour, a large model several hours. Fast CoreXY printers cut the time several times over compared with the previous generation.

Can I print in several colours?

Yes. Printers that support CFS print up to 16 colours or materials in one object (the i7 Combo with CFS Lite – up to 4). Combo models include the system in the box; for others, such as the K2 Plus, it can be bought separately.

What is the difference between FDM and resin printers?

An FDM printer builds the object from melted plastic thread – cheaper to run, cleaner and suited to large, functional parts. A resin printer cures liquid resin with UV light and renders tiny details such as jewellery and miniatures, but every print has to be washed and cured, for example in a wash and cure station.
